People Who Need Therapy: Kile Wygle March 31, 2009

The troubled genius' magical invention.
Claim to fame: Inventor of a motorized bar stool who was charged with DUI when he crashed the stool after consuming 15 beers. The stool is capable of going 38 mph, and it is made with the motor of a lawnmower.
Cause for concern: We at WNT feel this genius is being wrongfully judged. His motorized invention could be the solution to many of our world’s economic and environmental problems- it saves money, gas and the lives of innocent people who could become the victim of drunk driving accidents involving cars.
Kile Wygle is just another troubled genius being labeled by our society as a drunkard, a simple man, a fool, if you will. We feel his genius is being ignored for the laughs of many. In the spirit of Galileo, we think Wygle should be freed of his charges and given the help he needs to cure him of his alcoholism.
WNT Diagnosis: Misunderstood genius, alcoholism
Treatment: Alcoholics Anonymous, an invitation to join Mensa and a government grant to build more fuel-efficient yet cost-effective vehicles.
Teenage Girls Defend Chris Brown March 20, 2009

The New York Times cites a recent survey conducted by the Boston Public Health commission that says 46 percent of 200 teenagers believe Rihanna was responsible for the alleged beating by Chris Brown. The article also explains that the teenagers’ opinions are a reflection of a “stage of development” during which they are apt to support boys more than girls.
Okay, what stage was this, because I don’t remember going through it. The only one who should be able to slap a girl is her mom, and only after she’s stolen her mom’s money to buy herself the next Chris Brown CD.
I don’t think that teenager believing a girl getting a beat down from her boyfriend is at fault is a developmental issue, but one of sexist values that are being passed down to these girls, and I wouldn’t be surprised if many of them held on to these values into adulthood if they aren’t dealt with today.

Name: Laura Ingraham
Claim to Fame: Conservative political commentator and talk show host, weight Nazi
Cause for concern: Laura Ingraham has caused a stir this week for labeling Meghan McCain, daughter of John McCain and a budding voice for the GOP herself, “plus-sized” in response to McCain’s criticisms of Ann Coulter (don’t get us started on that one). We here at WNT are a bit concerned for Ingraham’s mental health after looking at a picture of McCain, who doesn’t look very plus-sized to us:

Yeah, what a lard-ass
WNT Diagnosis: Ingraham obviously suffers from Body Dysmorphic Disorder and general Bitcherrhea.
Treatment: Behavioral therapy, intensive medication and an appearance on the Tyra Banks Show.
Narcissists More Likely to Become Leaders October 8, 2008

According to Live Science, narcissists, or “egotistical types who exaggerate their talents and abilities, and lack empathy for others” are more likely to become leaders. However, this does not mean that they are better leaders:
“A person with high self-esteem is confident and charming, but they also have a caring component and they want to develop intimacy with others,” said lead researcher Amy Brunell, a psychologist at Ohio State University at Newark. “Narcissists have an inflated view of their talents and abilities and are all about themselves. They don’t care as much about others.”
She added, “It’s not surprising that narcissists become leaders. They like power, they are egotistical, and they are usually charming and extroverted. But the problem is, they don’t necessarily make better leaders.”
Hmm…that might explain a few occurrences in the political arena in the fast few months. Frighteningly, this could also explain Paris’ semi-recent wardrobe upgrade.
People Who Need Therapy: Wall Street Playmates October 6, 2008

Does my severence package include the stapler?
What’s Playboy doing to help out the economy? Making sure that sexy Wall St. women don’t go broke by recruiting them to pose nude for their next “Wall Street Women” feature. According to the magazine’s photo editor, the reasons for posing nude include “the attention, the opportunity, the experience.”
This weeks “People Who Need Therapy” award goes to all past and future Wall Street playmates. Anyone who thinks posing nude for a men’s magazine would not interfere with a career in the boardroom is clearly delusional and is in dire need of a shrink, not to mention a severance package. (Tango Mag)
